New Zealand Vacation Package: Burt Munro Memorial Tours

10 Day Tour

Day 1
On arrival in New Zealand's Christchurch International Airport you will be met by your coach driver and taken to your accommodation in the city where you will be briefed on the tour. A short tour of the city is also planned.

Your accommodation is in Christchurch.

Day 2
Today we journey through the Canterbury Plains and into the McKenzie Country where we will stop and visit the Mt Cook Salmon Farm, we also stop at Tekapo on the shoreline of Lake Tekapo. The views here are magnificent with the Southern Alps as the backdrop to this little village. We then travel on to The Hermitage at Mt Cook where we spend the night. Optional activities while at Mt Cook include short walks, kayaking at the base of the Tasman Glacier and Ski Plane flights with snow landings is also available. These optional activities while at Mt Cook are not included in the price of the tour.

Day 3
Our journey today takes us down to Omarama and on through the Lindis Pass to Wanaka Airport to visit the Wanaka Warbird collection of aircraft. From here we travel into Wanaka and then over the Crown Range to Arrowtown and Queenstown.
Accommodation is in Queenstown.

Day 4
Today is a free day in Queenstown to explore the local area. Activities such as bungy jumping, jetboating, luge and gondola rides, lake cruises on the TSS Earnslaw, shopping or just enjoy the atmosphere of the lakeside town set amongst the alpine ranges. Your driver will advise you of the options available, oh, did I mention skydiving, Paragliding, Fishing, Gold Mining, Scenic Helicopter rides, Whitewater Rafting, ................................ the list goes on. Your choices of activities on this day are not included in the itinerary.
Our accommodation is again in Queenstown.

Day 5
This morning greets us with an early start to the day to travel to Te Anau and on into Milford Sound in the heart of the Fiordland National Park to take the midday cruise which also takes in the under-water Observatory.
Our accommodation is in Manapouri.

Day 6
From Manapouri we travel to Tuatapere and follow the The Southern Scenic Route to Riverton stopping off at little villages and bays where fishermen anchor their boats.
An optional activity is joining a jetboat tour down the mighty Waiaurahiri River to the ocean, some 27km long. See video on Souther Splendour tour. This activitiy is not included in the price of the tour.
Afterwards returning to Invercargill to our accommodation.

Day 7
Today we visit Oreti Beach where Burt Munro raced his bike with the Invercargill Motorcycle Club. He also trailed his motorcycle on this beach after the many alterations and improvements he made.
You may also have the opportunity to go Land Sailing on the beach if weather and tides permit.
Accommodation is in Invercargill for the weekend.

Day 8
Today it's off up through the Catlins through coastal bush, waterfalls, the Cathedral Caves (dependant on tides), Jacks Blowhole and other interesting features along the way.
Our accommodation is at the Larnach Lodge in Dunedin which is adjacent to Larnach Castle, New Zealands only castle. We dine in the castle and also take a tour of the castle.

Day 9
Today you have the options of visiting Nature's Wonderland for a coastal adventure viewing birdlife, seals and other interesting wildlife. Also a tour of the Speights Brewery (these options are not included in the tour price) before we head north to Oamaru to our accommodation.

Day 10
We travel inland to Duntroon to visit a farm. This farm was one of the film sites for the filming of The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe. This is where the scenes of Aslan's Camp was filmed.
From Duntroon we head up to Kurow and cross the mighty Waitaki River to start our journey back to Christchurch.
